I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

A Day in The Park

This is the fourth or fifth time I have photographed this family. I love them. They are so sweet and kind. In fact, I know Vicki so well now that I designed her Entire Christmas card before she even saw one image. She loved it and didn't change a thing.  Merry Christmas!

Turning Point Church Halloween Festival

One of my favorite client's , Tim and Cammie, invited me to their church's Halloween Festival. I had so much fun. The people were so friendly, the band was awesome and the kids were so cute in their costumes.

I highly recommend checking out Turning Point Church in Allen. Tim is the Pastor and he is full of Life.

Happy OOOOoooo Halloween

This is Jodi and Gary's 26th Annual Halloween Party and it just keeps getting better every year.

They go all out! Catered Food, Bartender, Awards for best Costumes, Live Music, Karaoke,
and this year Elvis was in the house! He was wonderful.

My hubby was a Cone Head from Saturday Night Live, I went as Pebbles from the Flintstones,
and I dragged my best bud,  Liddie, with me and she dressed up like a Spider. A sexy spider ;)

I even won second place for best female costume.  Take a peek. It was a lot of fun.

New Orleans

My best bud and I took a road trip to Louisiana so Liddie could show me her home town and for us to also meet up with my other best bud, Terrell, who was working in New Orleans.

I also meet up with Bill Fox, one of the other
49er staff photographers again after 28 years.
We are both from Novato, Ca.
What a wonderfully small world we live in.

This was my first visit to Louisiana and I must say it's quite different than Cali, my home town. I don't think you would ever find Alligator on the menu back home. I loved the swamps and the small home town feel of Kinder, LA.

New Orleans was a blast. We visited art galleries, a little shopping and Bourbon street to taste those famous Hurricane drinks at Pat O'Briens.

Next we were off to photograph the 49er and Saints game. I think I had more fun photographing the sidelines and close ups of the players then the actual action shots.  The only thing that would have made the trip better was if the Niner's won.  I want my old team back. lol

DPPA's Little Red Schoolhouse

Dallas Professional Photographers Association hosts "Little Red Schoolhouse" every year and it is a blast. It's a two day seminar  taught by the top professionals in our field plus a mini trade show.

This year our instructor was the fabulous Bruce Dorn. His specialty is dance images. He is an amazing,  fun, wonderful man. Who else would give me a piggy back ride when my shoes were hurting and the cement was too hot to walk on barefoot!  lol

What also made this so special was that I organized it. I couldn't have done it without the help of my best bud Liddie.  She did all the marketing.  And put this video together. Thanks Liddie!

Watch the video to see how much fun we had.  Not only was it a seminar but I planned a dinner/dance too. We got have fun right?

Meet my new Best Friend! Joey.

First off let me start by saying we are not dog people. We have always had cats, bunnies, hamsters, chinchillas, etc. In our our married life (26 years) we have never had a dog.... So I'm amazed at how fast he has become my new best friend.

He follows me around non stop, which is so cute, and he is full of personality. He is not allowed in our bedroom because it is the cat's safe place from him. So he stops at the door and slowly works his way into the entrance and then lays on the carpet just inside the door. But, this process that he does takes about 20 minutes. I'm sure he is thinking we won't notice.

We rescued him from the animal shelter, where we get most of our pets. They think he is an Australian Shepherd, Husky mix. Doesn't matter to me, he's
 adorable.

California!

I love going home to visit and work but this trip was very special because my best bud from Texas came with me.

Liddie has never been to Cali and it was a blast showing her around. We went to a farmers market, introduced her to my favorite chocolate - See's Candy, wine tasting, Bodega Bay - showed her the white church where "The Birds" was filmed, hiked in Armstrong Woods in Russian River, and on her last day we spent the entire day in San Francisco.

We met a group of Korean bikers visiting Cali and I offered to take their group shot and they said no we would rather have you girls in the photo... so I jumped in there with them. Literally. lol There were all very nice.

I miss the Giants and the 49ers, my family, and the hills, and the ocean, and the nice weather, and I can go on and on! lol

I was also there for my Birthday where we met up with my best friend since the 5th grade for breakfast. Then Terrell, Liddie and I had Lunch in Sausalito and ended with dinner in Tiburon. It was a great birthday.

Next day was my high school reunion. That was fun too playing catch up.

After Liddie left I got to work and photographed my regular clients in Cali.

It was a wonderful trip! Oh ya, we love to take "kissy" photos. It's our thing, you'll see.

Sheri Baby

This is Sheri and I can't help but call her Sheri Baby - it's a song!

She is also one of my daughter's best friends so that made it even more fun to photograph her because I know her.

We started at the studio, photographed a little outside the studio then headed down to Deep Ellum. I love photographing there. It is an endless background.

She did great too. My favorite is the very last image on the slide show. She looks BEAUTIFUL!

Kevin '08

Kevin just graduated from Hebron High School and is already at Texas A&M in Collage Station. He got accepted into an accelerated program and I know his parents are very proud of him.

We had a lot of fun photographing these images. Kevin's family had a foreign exchange student living with them this last school year from Sweden, his name is Bjorn. He was so funny, he kept me and Kevin in stitches the whole time while holding my reflector and being my assistant.

I photographed Kevin and his younger brother Colby, a couple of years ago for a Christmas Portrait and when Kevin returns from School in August it will be time for a family portrait. I can't wait, they are a wonderful family.

SaraLiza's Wedding Day

I got a call inquiring about a Bridal Portrait and all I heard was bridal and I replied, "I'm sorry, I don't photograph weddings." Well, Sally started explaining what she and her daughter were looking for and I quickly changed my mind. It's not a wedding, but a bridal portrait and we are looking for something different and fun. My favorite words in photography.

I'm so glad I got this opportunity to photograph Sara because she was incredibly easy to work with, oh so beautiful, and Sally and I have bonded quickly and have become fast friends.

You have to love a Bride who picks out a Beautiful Red Train. Take a look.

Ladies Retreat

The Dallas Professional Photographer's Association and I planned our First Annual Ladie's Retreat and we had a blast! We rented the entire B&B , The Kennedy Manor, in Jefferson and it was so charming. Tammy served us a wonderful full breakfast in the morning. We went shopping, got our nails done, a couple of the women went on a haunted ghost tour, and we photographed a lot. I brought my daughter, Caitey, to model for us and we took her to a grave yard. She is a great model. On our last night we were up until 2 am photographing with lamps and reflectors.

We also took a 2 hour boat ride on Caddo Lake. Absolutely Beautiful.

I can't wait for our Second Annual Ladies Retreat.

Time Flies When Your Having Fun!

I can't believe I haven't posted since April! I have been crazy busy and find it difficult to keep up.

I photographed 8 friends that are graduating this year. It was a very long session. I only used car headlights and a flashlight to illuminate the scene that we photographed at night. Some exposures were 4 seconds long. The guys did great holding still for that long.

Special thank you to Jerry Ward, the best canon rep, for coming along to help and to let me play with all the new canon equipment!

Questions on Tutus and Chaps!

I'm getting a lot of questions about wanting their kids photographed but they are too old for tutus and chaps. VERY EASY, they don't have to wear them.

I have one mom that I talked to this morning that has two teenage boys and wanted to know if they could just wear cowboy hats. Absolutely. I'm flexible. Call or email if you have any more questions.

The second question is about purchasing the tutus. I was going to take orders on the dates of photography but it looks like the moms and kids are loving them. So, Yes, you my place your order now. Order forms are in my display area at Interiors Galleria.

Yee Ha!

Looking forward to it!

Tutus and Chaps are Here!

I'll be at Interior's Galleria photographing your
cutie pies in tutus and chaps!

Looking forward to seeing you there. I do recommend that you sign up in advance to reserve your best time slot and you don't
want to wait too long for your turn.

I have plenty of tutus in
several sizes and matching
tops for the girls to wear.

boys one toddler and the
other about a size 5-7.

I encourage you to bring

Especially those cowboy boots
and hats. (we can go as big or as little you would like on the tutu and chap theme.)

The mom's have been "flipping

The finished images will
be returned to Interior's

approximately 3 weeks.

A special thanks to my wonderful models!
The beautiful Ms. Tatum Grace and her
handsome brother Clayton. Two cutie pies.
And little Miss Ana, which I can't believe
we got her to go to sleep and her adorable
sister Ava.

Holli and Clay

Clay and Holli have been dating for 2 years now and it's so obvious by just looking at them that they are in Love!

Well, Clay shipped out yesterday to join the Navy Special Ops and eventually move into becoming a Navy Seal. That is Amazing to me! Thank you, Clay.

Of Course, we needed fun, romantic images of the two of them to make the absence a little easier. They were wonderful to work with and I love these images.

Vegas, Baby!

This is my 7th or 8th year attending WPPI. (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International)

I couldn't imagine missing it. It is the largest convention with the biggest trade show for photographers. Plus, it's in VEGAS.

It was held at Bally's and Paris. It has gotten so big that they need to split it between the two hotels. This pic of Paris has an Infrared technique applied to it. The sky is turquoise and the water is a purple/ blue and I love it.

Here is Terrell at Work, demonstrating the New Canon Mark III camera at the trade show.

I can't believe we didn't get any group images this trip. There are about 6-7 of us that always hang out and we only got a couple of shots. Here is Terrell and Matthew.

We mostly took scenic and "texture" pics. Next year we will have to do better.

Okay, this is me being a goof ball. I had a mustache drawn on my finger so I could make people laugh during the convention. Just a little light humor.

Yes, we all had fun! And learned a lot. You can never stop learning...

Little Adam

Adam was a handful, a typical toddler. He cried about 60% of the time he was in the studio. So, I took him outside for a change of scenery, of course. I used my gold reflector for the background outside. I thought it looked great with what Adam was wearing.

Parents are always surprised when their kids are fussy and I still manage to pull out great images. All I need is 1/60 of a second! I have my tricks to get kids to stop crying... I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you. lol

Raphael's Restaurante Mexicano

I finally found my new favorite Mexican Restaurant! We loved our old Mexican Restaurant in Cali and haven't found anything to compare, until now!

Great friendly atmosphere and wonderful food. And, a fun hangout place on the weekends!

They recently hired me to photograph their en tree's and the restaurant for their website and marketing pieces.

Their website is: www.http://raphaelson380.com
26615 Hwy 380 E. #100, Aubrey, TX 76227

Photographic Craftsman Degree!

I'm so excited to have earned my Photographic Craftsman Degree from The Professional Photographers of America. PPA is around 20,000 members strong and only between 2-3 % of their members hold some type of Degree.

Terrell was my sponsor, my mentor! Thanks Terrell.

The Craftsman Degree is earned by Lecturing and Teaching to a group of other photographers and by attending School's sponsored by PPA. It took me 8 years to earn! Now I need to start working on my Master's Degree.

PPA went all out. I felt like I was at the Oscar's. No red carpet, but it was pretty darn close. It was a great night, then of course, we all went out and celebrated afterwards! :)

Beautiful Audra

Meet Audra!

Isn't she Beautiful? She has almost finished her first year in college, but never got her Senior Portraits taken. It's never too late...

These are some of my Fav's. It was really difficult to narrow it down to just these few. We had a lot of fun and she was a great model.
She tried anything I suggested. Even the spinning in a circle for Five minutes and flipping her hair up. What a trooper.

Stock Yards!

I was recently in Fort Worth at the Stock Yard area and was photographing Ren and Joey L.

Thanks for being great models. I had so much fun. I never get to Fort Worth so this was a treat!

I broke all the rules! Bright sun in the middle of the day, and in a junk yard!

Since I was photographing in a junk yard it was only fitting to put a grunge effect on the first image. The last image of Joey I added an Infared Filter combined with a High Soft Glow Filter.

I love it.

Cheers!

Susan and Gary recently had a small dinner party which was so much fun!

I think I'm going to make it our "thing" the girl picture with the three of us. We did the same pose for Halloween (except we had kissy lips lol) and it's one of my favorite images.

To the best friends ever! We have so much fun together. I love you guys.

Ps - Do I sound like I'm in high school?

I have not fallen off the face of the Earth!

Oh My! I have been so busy that I have not posted in months. I love to, too! lol

I crashed after the Holidays and took two weeks vacation and attended a convention in Florida. (more soon on that) I caught up on my Tivo and managed to do a little bit of after Christmas shopping :)

Now it's almost Valentine's Day. Christmas was just a couple weeks ago, wasn't it????

I'll post more soon. I promise.

Hope you all had a Blessed Christmas and New Year's.
Karyn
