Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf

I am blessed that my daughter is a natural model (because having a camera pointed in her face from the moment she was born has nothing to do with it) and that we both love to play around with fun sessions. Since I moved to the "woods" I have been wanting to photograph a Little Red Riding Hood theme. A couple days ago we went prop shopping, including a trip to the fabric store and pulled out the old sewing machine to make the cape. Cade, my daughter, bought the wolf mask, red bustier with the black tutu at Hot Topic and we both found the vest at H&M. Because I know someone is going to ask where I found the props.

We thought it would be fun to photograph just after sunset and into the night for a different look on the old theme. I'm so glad we did. I love these.

We photographed these in my back yard. How lucky am I?  Here is the techie info (Canon 5dII -  EF70-200mm f/2.8L - 600EX RT Flash with Soff Box) because again, I know my photographer friends are going to ask. lol The photo's were edited using NIK's. I just can't help myself, I love playing around with filters and textures.

We moved closer to the house for the rest of the session and I used the outside light attached by the front door for the main light and then I positioned the flash with the Soff Box behind her to light the background. We then added a very sophisticated lighting set up with my daughter's car headlights to fill in the rest of the background. lol  At this point it was pretty dark, with no street lights or moon.

Thank you Jerry Ghionis for teaching us that you don't always have to use photographic lights to get the job done.  In fact, I have fun challenging myself to see what I can come up with that isn't a flash. lol

We had a lot of fun with this and I can't wait to try something else with the same theme.
